In UNIFORM, Keatley takes the familiar green army toys and seeks to look beyond the labels of toy/war/soldier to see the humanity in each character. Keatley’s portraits are bold, simple, and full of imagination and emotion. Playing off their miniature counterparts, the characters in these images sit lower in the frame than typically seen in a portrait, amidst an excess of negative space, mimicking the small stature of the toy’s size.
